Claude Elcock established our business in 1971 because he realised that professional trades people in Yorkshire needed a greater level of choice and service for their tools and equipment than existed at the time.
His philosophy was simple and still guides the business today. He insisted that Elcocks would offer its customers:
- unparalleled technical know-how, enabling them make informed choices from the many different types of machinery and equipment available;
- guaranteed levels of support and back up for their purchases, - in particular power tools;
- tools, equipment and services that offered the best in choice and value for trade professionals.
Since then, our business has grown substantially with the addition of branches in Driffield and Goole and the introduction of a wide range of range of new products and services.
However, we remain a family business with members of the second and third generation of the founder’s family still actively involved in the day to day running of the business and readily accessible to customers.
Originally the business traded under the name Elcock Power Tools, reflecting the increased choice of the latest power tools that Claude Elcock wanted to offer the customer. Today, while we still stock an enormous range of power tools from leading manufacturers, our range of products and services has expanded massively to meet the changing demands of the market.
Our products and services now include:
- Hand tools – leading brands like Stanley, CK and Gedore and value lines including Silverline;
- Power tools – we are main agents for Makita, Bosch, DeWalt, Hitachi and Worx;
- Workwear and Safety Equipment – an extensive range of clothing and footwear with the addition of corporate workwear that can be branded to your chosen identity;
- Tool hire – giving our customers access to a diverse range of the latest tools and equipment where it’s uneconomic to purchase these for a one-off project.
- Training – we provide certified training for your employees or your trainers fully compliant with current Health and Safety legislation, for example: Abrasive Wheels, Manual Lifting, etc.,
- Tool repairs and electrical testing – Elcocks is authorised to repair and service most leading makes of power tools and provides a wider PAT testing service for all types of business.
