IT IS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT that employers must ensure that their staff are correctly trained and equipped to recognise and follow safe working practices.

Elcocks offers a wide range of specialist training courses that cover the latest requirements of Health and Safety legislation. Each is presented by qualified trainers - experienced in the use of all kinds of equipment covered by different regulations.

Employers, employees and self-employed persons have a legal responsibility to take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of electrical equipment above 50v.

The regulations do not just apply to site equipment, but to all types of public and business activity - for example, schools and libraries.

This means all equipment covered by the regulations should be regularly inspected, tested and where necessary, repaired or replaced.

Elcocks has a number of full time testers who are competent to carry out the necessary test procedures on all kinds of electrical equipment. Certification involves a series of tests notably for insulation, current leakage and damage. Equipment that satisfies the prescribed tests is approved and labelled accordingly with the date of the test. If it fails, every Elcocks Trade Centre has staff qualified and approved to undertake repairs.

Testing an appliance usually takes around 10 minutes and customers can take appliances into any Elcocks Trade Centre.
